Application areas for the ADEL technology

Today 96% of global H2 production is based on fossil fuel and contributes 2% to CO2 world emissions. As a result, the innovative hydrogen production concept Intermediate Temperature Steam Electrolysis (ITSE) will first target the current H2 market and, in the mid term, will be used for carbon free transportation applications. In addition, the technology will be applied in the field of long term energy storage.

A main originality of the ADEL project is to address different types of heat and power sources (renewables such as solar and wind or nuclear) that can be used for medium-scale decentralized as well as for large-scale centralized hydrogen production.
